Here is the best recipe for a strawberry banana smoothie that I have ever had. The original recipe calls for sugar, but I have made it with Stevia and it tastes just as good! I'm sure that if you don't use Stevia, you can sub in something else.

1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup banana
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp sugar (or not tongue.gif )
2/3 cup crushed ice

It took me awhile to perfect the recipe----you'll have to play around with the amount of ingredients in order to find what satisfies your tastes. I had the most trouble with the ice and banana at first. Now, I tend to use less ice, 1/2 a banana (or a whole small one), 1 tsp vanilla extract (I love it), and about 1/16 tsp Stevia (my bottle came with a tiny scooper--that's about the size of one scoop with the scooper). Just put it all in a blender, blend it, and serve. Mmm!

This does sound good but I would be cautious with the banana as they have a pretty high GI unless you are using green ones. If you use frozen strawberries you still get a nice thick smoothie. I like to toss in some kiwi with the strawberries.

Have you ever used Agave Syrup for sweetener? It's low GI and comes from a cactus plant. It's a little pricey but has great flavor.

It is also good as a plain strawberry smoothie...you can totally leave the banana out (or like you said, sub in a kiwi or something...I should try that next!).

I'll have to look into the agave--I think I've heard the word before, but that's about it.

Thanks for the suggestions!
