OK, now that the Recipes section has been around a while...

How would you like to see it organized?

At this point it really needs divisions on different types of recipes.

Everyone give me some feedback on this and we can clean it up.

Barb,

I worried about this for at least 30 minutes when I put together the PDF file. I just picked several categories, and assigned recipes to each. When I was in doubt, I put it into several. For instance, a chicken and pasta casserole could show up in three places.

This won't work well on-line, because we really only want to post a new recipe on one place.

So, I don't have really precise categories to suggest.

Well... as far as categories goes - the simpler the better.

Appetizers/Snacks
Breakfast/Brunch
Meat Main Dishes
Vegetable Main Dishes
Casseroles/One-Pot
Sauces/Gravies
Desserts/Breads

Yes, I would like to keep it as simple as possible. Bare minimum categories. However, there needs to be some sort of division I think.

Barb!
Here's my 2 cents:

Soups
Salads
Breads
Breakfast/Brunch
Main Dishes
Side Dishes
Sweet Treats
Other (or Misc) Recipes

I will slowly but surely move all the old recipes into the new categories.

Hey Barb!
I was wondering if its possible to have a section for breakfast recipes? Its really hard to know where to post those. They don't quite fit in anywhere else.

Thanks

BA....if there is any way the moderators could help, I'd be willing to do so. All you have to do is let me know how so I don't screw everything up! (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Hey Shel, I started moving the other day. It's really easy. In the index list, I just clicked on the little mass moderation box to the far right (little black arrows) to choose which recipes to move. (Molly has made it even easier by using section descriptions) Once you have chosen what you want to move, down at the bottom of the page is a box that says close topics with a drop down arrow. Click that and choose Move Topics. Ten, Click on the "With Selected" button, it will tell you how many you've selected. You'll go to another page that will give you a list of the topics you selected and then you use the drop down box to select where. The Recipe sections are all there and you just pick the right one.

PS - I haven't moved any breakfasts, since they really do seem to need their own place.

Maybe a separate vegetable section? I tend to think of side dishes as things to eat in moderation - 'course, I could be odd that way (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

Kate....thanks for the step by step....I'm usually too afraid to start exploring for fear I'll mess something up and they'll expect me to fix it! (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I agree about the breakfast and vegetable sections.

I'll start moving some as I get the time. (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Shel

p.s.....probably a stupid question, but where would you put salad dressings? Under salads or under other? (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

LOL, not a stupid question, I had to think about it for a while myself. Finally decided that salad dressings made more sense with salads than other. That way, we can find a salad and then a dressing without going elsewhere. Purely selfish since I eat more salads than anything else (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

That's what I thought too Kate. I didn't want to have to go to a different forum to find the dressing recipes! (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Don't be afraid to moderate, that is why I made you moderators. (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If you have any questions about how to do something just PM me. If you think you messed something up, once again, just PM me (most everything can be fixed/corrected).

In addition, if you feel there is a better layout/sections, need for new forums/sections or whatever just drop me a line.

I wanted to put some sort of sections up because the Recipe forum was getting huge. However, I didn't want there to be so many divisions that it was a pain to browse through them.

I think Molly has single-handedly doubled the size of the Recipe forum (keep them coming). (IMG:http://www.sugarbustersforum.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

BA: Thanks for all you do to keep the board running smoothly. I think the new sections in the recipe forum have made it much easier to locate whatever you are looking for. And I appreciate the encouragement about posting my recipes. I'm always afraid someone will think I'm hogging the Board or something.

KATE: I try to designate side dishes as starchy carbs if its something SBers need to count.HTH
