Glycemic Index Forum / Sugar Busters Forum > Main > Recipes > Breads & Desserts
I have not tried this recipe yet but will be shortly. I've been trying to find a legal different roll or breadstick to have for Thanksgiving. I hope to be making it in the next day or so.

Whole Wheat Bread Sticks

Yields: 2 to 3 dozen sticks
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups wheat germ (or the germ from another grain)
1? cups milk
?/3 cup safflower oil (or ?/3 cup lecithin granules or half that amount liquid lecithin)
2 tablespoons raw honey (agave as substitute)
1 teaspoon sea salt (optional)
sesame seeds (optional)
Mix and knead all the ingredients together until mixture holds together quite well. Roll the dough ? to ? inches thick (the thinner you roll the mixture the crispier it will be). Cut the sticks about 5 inches long. Place on an oiled cookie sheet. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds, if using. Bake until golden brown at 350?F.
Variation: Dough may be cut into squares to make crackers.
sad.gif Ok, should have made these before I posted the recipe. I made them and think I cut them too big and they were just kind of blah. If anyone has had luck with this recipe or has suggestions please post!!
