Full Version: Soft Drink Research
Glycemic Index Forum / Sugar Busters Forum > Main > Food News
Heres a link to an article that studied high school students and the effect of soft drinks. The sample size is very small, about 100 students, but the results were dramatic. It is being expanded to a larger sample.

Only one soft drink a day was too much.

I am sure this was not sugar free soft drinks.
So they were consuming large amounts of sugar, maybe in the form of high fructose corn syrup.
I would not think that a "diet" soda would show the same results, and unless it is a larger control group.
But, that said it sounds interesting.
Btw, I do not drink soda at all.

This was a comparison of two groups, one of which got only sugar free drinks, while the other got what they were used to, high fructose corn syrup sweetened typically.

I agree. I don't remember the last time I had a real sweetened soft drink. And I have sugar free soft drinks less than once a week.
