I have been wanting something with those wonderful Mediterraean flavors so I experimented and came up with this. I am really pleased with how it turned out. You could make the meatballs smaller and use them for appetizers with a dipping sauce or you could stuff the meatballs in a Whole Wheat Pita along with some shredded lettuce and top it with the sauce.

1 pound ground beef (you could sub ground lamb for part of the meat)
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 egg
1/2 cup oats
2 cloves minced garlic
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Mix together all ingredients and form into meatballs.
Heat a little olive oil in a large skillet. Add the meatballs and cook on medium heat stirring occasionally until done (appx 12-15 minutes).

Yogurt Sauce:
4 oz Feta Cheese crumbled
3/4 cup plain yogurt
2 Tbsp milk
1 clove garlic, minced
1 medium tomato, diced
1/2 cup cucumber peeled and diced
1 Teaspoon fresh dill, minced

Place cheese, yogurt, milk and garlic in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Chill.
