Yes, rice is consumed several times a day here in Asia, but that doesn't change where it is on the glycemic index.
Just a point, the incidence of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke is huge here. Maybe secondary to an over consumption of high glycemic foods and the obesity that follows? Just a thought.
Also, there are plenty of fat people here! Not in the countryside, but in the cities, where processed foods are readily available. Also, there are vast amounts of sugar in just about every processed food here. They even have "sweet" spaghetti sauce!
Guess what the sweet is..........sugar!
Not many sugar free soft drinks are available here, the population isn't interested in buying them. So most (95%) soft drink are full sugar versions, there are a few sf versions available, but are usually bought by non-locals.
I really dont understand your point.
