Since I am new to this, trying to think of what to make with my dinner, I came up with cooking the rice as it says on the package, let it cool I saute' any kinds of vegetables you choose, I used broccoli, bean sprouts, carrots, etc. then I mixed the two together and added a little soy sauce and mix, it was actually not bad, my kids liked it.

Sounds good. You could also add an egg for a little protein and a "fried rice" feel.

We just have trouble getting brown rice to cook long enough and other side of the spectrum, avoid getting burned. What cooking times/ water amounts do you guys use?
I've wanted to try cooking with some alternative grains too such as quinoa, amaranth, spelt and millet, but don't know what to do with them. Assuming they are legal, anyone know good ways/ recipes to use them?
